Privacy
What BAREBORN keeps about you, and why. This covers the site, the launcher and the servers listed here.
What we keep
- Steam identity. Your Steam ID, name and avatar, from Steam when you sign in. Steam never shows us your password.
- E-mail. Your e-mail address, confirmed with a code. We send codes and security notices to it, and news only if you turn them on in Settings.
- Purchases. Your Embers and what you spent them on, what you bought, when, for how much, for which server, the creator code if you entered one, and the payment's number and status at T-Bank. Kept as long as the tax rules require. T-Bank takes the payment itself, under its own privacy policy.
- Your PCs. A name and a scrambled hardware ID for each PC you use the launcher on, so nobody can use your sign-in from another machine.
- Play history. When you joined which server, kept for moderation.
- Bans. If you are banned: the reason, when and until when.
- Update reports. Whether launcher downloads worked, without your name.
Game statistics
Our game servers send us totals about play: who joined and for how long, deaths and their causes, where players come back to life (the map square), what was crafted, built, raided and bought, and how well the server runs. Who joined keeps your Steam ID for 30 days; the days you played are kept 400 days under a scrambled ID. Deaths, spawns and totals carry no Steam ID.
Performance and crash data from your PC
While you play on our servers, the game sends how smoothly it runs (frame rate, loading times, ping, which parts of the game and of your PC take the time, how much memory it uses and how much it draws on screen), how many buildings, objects and players are around you, how much of each minute you were moving, your PC's graphics card, processor, memory, Windows version and graphics settings, errors without their text, and after a crash which program file failed and how much memory the game used. No files, no folder or user names, no IP address and no hardware serial numbers. It is kept under a scrambled form of your Steam ID for 30 days, then only totals stay.
Turn it off in the game: Settings > Options > "Send performance and crash data".
Bug and player reports
A bug report keeps what you wrote, your Steam ID, where you were in the game and, if you attached them, a screenshot and the game log; the screenshot and log are deleted 180 days after the report is closed. A player report keeps who reported whom, why and what was written; it is deleted a year after the case is closed, or after 180 days without a new report. Only our team reads them; you see your own on your account page, and a reported player is never told who reported them.
What we do not keep
Your card details: we never see them. Your chat stays on the server you play on.
Servers
The game servers are ours. They keep what the game needs: chat, positions and inventories.
Where it is kept and who else sees it
All of it is kept on our servers in Russia. A few services outside the team see part of it:
- Steam. Valve (USA) signs you in and gives us your Steam ID, name and avatar.
- Epic Games. Epic Games (USA) runs the game's online sign-in and Easy Anti-Cheat. At each sign-in it gets your Steam ID and name from us; while you play, Easy Anti-Cheat checks your PC for cheats. Epic handles that under its own privacy policy.
- T-Bank. Takes your payment and sends the receipt (Russia); it gets what you bought, the price and your e-mail.
- Mail service. Codes and e-mails go out through a mail service in Russia.
- Our team's alerts. Alerts to our team in Discord and Telegram can name a Steam ID and name, for moderation and security.
Deleting your data
Delete your account yourself on its data page: your Steam name, avatar, e-mail, PCs, settings and activity go at once. Your data
Purchase records stay as long as the tax rules require, and bans stay while they last. To see what we keep about you or to correct it, ask in Discord with your Steam ID.
