Changelog
What changed in each update. The launcher installs them by itself.
-
1.5.6
Latest- Map wipe: a new map, everyone starts fresh. Buildings and items on the old map are gone. Blueprints stay. Version 1.5.6 is required; the launcher updates the game by itself, and older versions can no longer join.
- Download: large once, about 2.8 GB, because almost all of the game data updates. In return the textures are lighter: the game takes about 700 MB less space, loads into the world about a second faster and uses about 1.3 GB less memory.
- Monuments: updated art from the artists for the Fishing Village, the Large Oil Rig, the Cargo Ship, the Gas Station, the power substations, the Satellite Dish and the Supermarket. Fences at monuments no longer draw as a whole substation.
- Loot: crates and barrels at monuments and in junk piles stand where the artists placed them. Amounts and respawn times are unchanged.
- Sounds: drawing the SPAS, and about 70 other draws, reloads and bolts, no longer opens with a deep boom. The handmade machine gun, and other automatics from afar, play one shot per round. Placing twig, wood and metal sounds like a piece being fitted. Opening a box, a body or a sleeper plays only its own sound, without the inventory sound on top.

1.5.5
7 changes
- No wipe: the map, buildings and blueprints stay. Version 1.5.5 is required; the launcher updates the game by itself, and older versions can no longer join.
- Download: about 0.9 GB, only the changed files. On the first join the game builds the map once more, so that join takes a little longer.
- Melee: hits on trees, rocks and animals register reliably again.
- Sphere Tank: its supports no longer pull you in or slide you off, and you can jump from them again. The three pallets there are solid again.
- Berries: bushes give Blue Berries, 2 a pick (5 calories and 2 water each), instead of 4 food-crate Blueberries that healed 10 health.
- Cargo Ship: before it leaves the map it sounds its horn, fills with radiation and keeps its course for 270 seconds; anyone still aboard at the map's edge dies. An RHIB with 50 fuel is docked at the stern: take the helm to launch it.
- The metal fence out in the open that looked like a substation part is a fence again, and the tool crate is small again. At the Gas Station, the Supermarket, the Fishing Village and the Satellite Dish a few fences still show a substation; that is fixed in 1.5.6.
-
1.5.4
- Fix for 1.5.3: rocks, ore nodes, cliffs, logs, fences, ladders, pipes, icebergs and some monument walls and floors are solid again. You can no longer walk or shoot through them, and ore nodes can be mined again.
- No wipe: the map, buildings and blueprints stay. Version 1.5.4 is required; the launcher updates the game by itself, and older versions can no longer join.
- Download: about 2.3 GB, only the fixed parts of the game data.
-
1.5.3
10 changes
- No wipe: the map, buildings and blueprints stay. Version 1.5.3 is required; the launcher updates the game by itself, and older versions can no longer join.
- Download: this update downloads the game's data in full once more (about 3 GB). The data is now split into parts, so most later updates download only the parts that changed.
- Gunshots: every gun's plain (unsilenced) shot is now new too, like all its variants. A shot's punch is as loud as in 1.5.2.
- World sounds: no more constant hiss outdoors. Wind, birds, leaves and crickets sound more natural, without the rumble.
- Action sounds: reloads and other one-shot sounds no longer hiss (the Waterpipe Shotgun's reload was fixed first). Where one action played two sounds, it now plays one.
- Scientists: in a fight they step a little past the edge of their area and fire from there instead of freezing at the line. Once they lose sight of a player, they no longer know where that player is.
- Scientists and the Outpost's guards now move around properly in the Military Tunnel, on the Small and Large Oil Rigs and in the Outpost.
- Art: birch and autumn leaves are brighter and fuller, also at a distance and at night; snowy pines get a new far-distance texture. New textures for fire, smoke, mist, splashes, sparks, blood, hit marks and muzzle flashes.
- Radiation: the Satellite Dish and the Launch Site cost much less health. The Satellite Dish is weak over its whole area and stronger in a few spots; the Launch Site is low over the site, medium in one zone and high inside the rocket building. Radiation protection on clothing now also cuts the health lost.
- Easy Anti-Cheat: when the anti-cheat can't start, the game tells you why at once and how to fix it: the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable is missing, game files are missing, or the Epic Online Services sign-in failed. The server refuses such a join at once instead of after 45 seconds.
-
1.5.2
9 changes
- No wipe: the map, buildings and blueprints stay. Version 1.5.2 is required; the launcher updates the game by itself, and older versions can no longer join.
- Easy Anti-Cheat: the game now runs protected by Easy Anti-Cheat. Start it only from the launcher (1.4.0 or newer) and accept the anti-cheat install: without protection the server disconnects you within 45 seconds.
- Server anti-cheat: the server checks movement, vehicles, hits, looting and items. Vehicles no longer drive through building walls. Boxes, cupboards, code locks and doors can't be opened through a wall or a floor. Other players' positions reach you only when you can see or hear them. A bottle no longer gives endless water, and a bandage or a syringe has to be in your hands. Respawning from the menu works once a minute (giving up while downed always works). Chat commands are for admins only. The server refuses a name that impersonates another player.
- Loading and joining no longer hang: if something goes wrong, the game shows the reason.
- New sound: nearly every sound in the game was replaced, from weapons, tools and animals to vehicles, building and nature. The mix is louder and more even, a limiter holds the loud moments, and the world's ambience sits under the game rather than over it; footsteps are easier to hear. Wolves and bears growl through the whole chase, and you hear their steps.
- A shot sounds by its round and muzzle device, and every gun has its own silenced shot, every variant level with its gun's own shot. Other players hear your muzzle device.
- World sounds: forest, wind, rain, the shore, rivers, day and night, by biome, weather and time of day. Rooms, halls and tunnels echo, and machinery hums at monuments.
- Distant shots and explosions sound distant. A shot is heard up to 600 m away, a silenced one up to 150 m.
- Options > Audio has a new "Ambience and weather volume" slider.

1.5.0
13 changes
- Map wipe: a new map. Blueprints stay. Version 1.5.0 is required; the launcher updates the game by itself, and older versions can no longer join.
- Power substations: small ones stand by the ends of the roads to monuments, big ones at both ends of every power line. They hold no loot, and you can't build next to them.
- Triangle roof: a new building piece for triangle foundations and walls. Where two wings of a house meet, the roof valley is now closed. Square roofs now sit the right way round, their low edge over the wall (already built ones too).
- Upscaling is on by default: DLSS on NVIDIA RTX cards, STP on the rest (FSR 2 can still be picked). The game draws the world at a lower resolution and rebuilds it to your screen's, for more frames. Graphics > Upscaling picks the upscaler and the upscaling quality: Auto (the default, chosen for your screen's resolution), Quality, Balanced, Performance, Ultra Performance and full resolution (DLAA under DLSS, Native AA otherwise). A new Sharpness slider sets how crisp the picture is.
- Under upscaling, grass and tree crowns don't smear in the wind, and a muzzle flash lights your hands.
- Performance: stone buildings are drawn in batches, about 0.9 ms faster a frame at a base on Medium, with hundreds fewer draw calls. Distant buildings cost less, and moving among many bases hitches less. Water, the ground and the HUD take less time each frame.
- The artist's new spruces: five spruce kinds and their snowy twins have new models up close and at mid range, and the snowless ones from afar too.
- Scientists wear the artist's own suits instead of recoloured hazmat suits: regular, arctic and heavy. What scientists drop is unchanged.
- The smoke grenade can no longer be crafted: only the Outpost sells it, for 5 scrap, and the recycler no longer takes it. Buying and recycling them used to make gunpowder without mining sulfur.
- Attachment menu: inspecting the AK no longer fills the lower right of the screen with its stock and sling.
- A lamp's cone of light shows only while it is lit, now also on a lamp lying on the ground or on a rack, and on its icon.
- The artist refreshed materials: vehicles, barrels, tires and tool crates are brighter, the Military Tunnel has less moss, and cliffs are darker.
- The main menu has a Credits screen, and the loading screen names the technologies in use.

1.4.1
12 changes
- Attachment menu: T with a gun in your hands raises it for inspection and puts a marker on each slot (sight, muzzle, underbarrel) and the magazine. A marker shows what is fitted and its condition, the magazine its rounds and "21/30". Click a marker to take an attachment off, fit one, or change rounds. Hold T and release on a choice, or tap T and the menu stays open. It replaces the hold-T radial.
- HUD: belt keys work with the HUD hidden, raid and decay alerts sound even under an open screen, the kill banner no longer covers the wounded screen, chat stops above the team list, large numbers are grouped by thousands, a dragged item shows over the HUD, and other players' voices show a speaker icon. Fitting an attachment no longer shows "-1" in the item feed.
- Animals fear what real animals fear: fire, gunfire, blasts, a shout and a player who stands their ground. A predator keeps 6 m from fire (a torch in hand, a road flare, a campfire, an oven), a gunshot within 15 m or a shout within 12 m runs a wolf off, and a blast within 30 m runs off any animal. Face a predator and it walks in, stops 4 m away and hesitates for 3 seconds; turn or run and it charges at once.
- A chase tires: a wolf or bear sprints for 6 seconds, then runs slower than a sprinting player. An animal you see coming can be outrun.
- Wolves bite softer (11 instead of 20) and bears hit for 25 instead of 40. Animals no longer stand inside each other; they spread round their target. Scientists back off when they get too close and hold fire when they can't see you.
- NPCs stand on the real ground: they no longer walk on air over rocks, stand inside cliffs or see through them.
- New effects: explosions of C4, rockets, grenades, mines and incendiaries; fire from campfires, Molotovs, torches, ovens and the flamethrower; smoke and signal grenades; flares; water splashes and boat wakes; dust when you build.
- The snowless cold tundra now has tundra air: 5 °C at night to 17 °C by day instead of a winter chill. It rains there instead of snowing, and a swim in its rivers no longer freezes you.
- Roadside junk piles are back to about one every 70 m of road instead of one every few steps.
- Performance: the Low preset drops sun shadows and uses FXAA instead of TAA, about 11–12 % more frames on integrated graphics. The ground is drawn after buildings and props, so it is no longer shaded where they cover it: another 1–4 ms a frame on integrated graphics. Doors, lamps and animal footsteps update in one shared loop.
- Map wipe: a new map with a new seed. Version 1.4.1 is required; the launcher updates the game by itself, and older versions can no longer join.
- Blueprints stay.

1.4.0
16 changes
- Performance: the game runs noticeably faster, most of all on weak and integrated graphics. The ground, grass and tree crowns no longer shade the same spot of the screen several times over, anti-aliasing is lighter on Medium and Low, and bushes cast shadows to 60 m. On an integrated GPU, forests and meadows run at up to about 1.5 times the frame rate.
- Trees, grass and bushes behind a hill are no longer drawn. The distant forest takes half the draw calls, and trees no longer keep their full detail further out than they should.
- Big bases: the server no longer freezes once a second for furnaces and once a minute for building upkeep. Walking into an area full of bases builds them over a few frames instead of one, with fewer hitches. Idle doors, furnaces and traps no longer weigh on the frame.
- With Render scale below 100 %, the picture is now upscaled with FSR 1 instead of blurred.
- Building: an unsupported foundation needs ground under your aim, corner logs continue the walls, and roads block building. Shift snaps a deployable to walls and its neighbours, barricades show their front, the cupboard lists its resources, and shelves hold boxes.
- Scientists' firing is reworked, and they are hit where they are drawn. Military Tunnel scientists spawn in the tunnels. Animals stand on the ground and stay out of water and the Outpost.
- Monuments: the Lighthouse has crates up the tower, and roadsides have junk piles and hemp. The Outpost has no hole or way into its rowhouse, and loot no longer sticks in props. Monument card doors can be powered again: the Satellite Dish's generator room opens and the Arctic base needs only its fuse. The Military Tunnel's blue card doors run on the fuse. The Fishing Village recycler stands clear. The gas station's fence stands at full height, and the Airfield's rubble lies flat on the pad.
- Two players are never left inside each other. The crouch is 1.1 m, corners and railings hold you out, and a swimmer floats at the waterline.
- Head bob is always on, the hands and sights move more naturally, and the pickaxe is the right size. The Holosight dot is crisp, its glass no longer glares, and tracers are reworked. The Eoka can't be aimed down sights. Melee weapons swing in water.
- The Candle Hat and Miners Hat burn Low Grade Fuel and light up. Low Grade Fuel is the artist's jar, Crude Oil his black can, and honey is gone.
- Plants: looking at one shows its stage and health, E picks it, and a seed refused at a monument says why. Crafting keeps going when you walk away from the workbench. The crafting page counts items and shows the yield. The repair bench shows the cost and why a repair is refused.
- Drinking is a hold again, and a press drinks a whole mouthful. The wheel switches furnaces, lights and recyclers and no longer opens the inventory. A door can't be yanked mid-swing, and the code lock sits on the sheet metal door, not in it. A placed lock no longer vanishes a metre or two away.
- Weather and warmth: the air follows daily climate curves, and a fire's warmth fades with distance.
- Fixed: the airdrop plane shows at any height, and the cargo ship no longer kills boat crews or swimmers at its ladders. A buried stash stays buried while its owner looks at it. A felled cactus no longer falls like a tree. Belt and inventory moves no longer show +item / -item. The bandage's sound follows the player. Chinese, Japanese and Korean names display correctly.
- Map wipe: a new map with a new seed. Version 1.4.0 is required; the launcher updates the game by itself, and older versions can no longer join.
- Blueprints stay.
